Game Days
The largest game development conference in Slovakia brings speakers from all over the world with valuable experience and insight behind the scenes of AAA studios. It is a unique opportunity where every participant has the chance to gain irreplaceable experience, make contacts, exchange ideas and get the necessary feedback on their own work, all in a relaxed and unforgettable atmosphere.
Game Dev Meetups
The Game Dev Meetup is a regular gathering of game developers held several times a year in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Each meetup includes two talks focused on current topics in the game development scene, allowing attendees to share the latest knowledge and trends, discuss industry challenges and make new contacts. This format supports the maintenance and development of the community and provides a space for professional growth, which is crucial for the development of the game industry in Slovakia.
Game Jams
Game Jam is a video game hackathon where students are tasked with creating a game prototype based on a given theme within a set timeframe (usually up to 60 hours). Participants work in teams of several people, with experienced game development professionals available throughout the event to advise them when needed. The event fosters students' creativity, teaching them to work in teams and under time pressure. It also connects them directly with video game and IT companies, creating opportunities for their future careers.
Educational activities
Our educational activities include lectures, practices, meetings and workshops for students, teachers and the general public. Our speakers include experts such as Matej Hudák, Peter Nagy and Juraj Baksy, who share their experiences in the games industry. The aim is to provide practical knowledge, foster creative thinking and develop the community of game developers in Slovakia.
Matej Hudák (BIO)
Matej Hudák is Publishing Director at Grindstone. During his five years in the games industry, he has gained experience in a variety of roles - from artistic and technical roles such as Cutscene Editor, to producer management roles, to senior publishing roles.
During his studies at Masaryk University and Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, he worked in the audiovisual industry. He worked with various film productions, Czech Television and Slovak Radio and Television, where he gained valuable experience and insight into the creative and technical aspects of audiovisual production.
Peter Nagy (BIO)
Peter Nagy is one of the most experienced people in the gaming industry in Slovakia. He has worked in a variety of roles, most notably as a project lead and producer for dozens of products, and has worked with companies in the gaming industry around the world, including some of the biggest names in gaming such as Activision, Ubisoft, Valve, GOG, Dreamcatcher, Kalypso, bitComposer, and Funcom.
Currently, Peter is the CEO and co-founder of Games Farm as the oldest operating independent development studio in Slovakia (est. 2001), he founded the first Slovak publishing company Grindstone, the international Game Days conference, and most recently Tristone, a company tasked with creating a developer ecosystem of independent studios and integrating existing game development activities.
Juraj Baksy (BIO)
Juraj Baksy is COO of Games Farm and Grindstone and co-founder of Game Dev Košice, with more than fifteen years of experience in hardware management and more than five years in the gaming industry. He plays a key role in developing and improving processes and is one of the main organizers of Game Days, the largest game development conference in the country. Juraj is passionate about mentoring the next generation of game developers and actively supports students through internships, apprenticeships and educational lectures.
